Seoul, Korea – October 2003 – Logostek and ITWell collaborated to introduce the XPDA-9, a Windows CE based mobile computer with integrated bar code scanner, magnetic strip reader, printer and optional CDMA or GSM wireless modem. Not only does the XPDA-9 allow immediate information access at the point of activity, but also printing, bar code scanning and payment processing is possible. Its unique all-in-one design is optimized for retailers to serve customers at any time, any place.

Retails are now using mobile POS where previously it was unthinkable. Inside of international airlines, cruise, van, trains and any places that could not have POS because of lack of space. Until now, retailers relied on portable data collector or PDA with add-on printer and magnetic card reader. Often such configuration increased the cost ownership but most of all such devices are not designed for retail environment. The XPDA-9 is designed to lower the cost of ownership and maximize the usability of the device to bring fast return on investment. Every elements of the XPDA-9, weight, size of device, durability, accessories, cradle and keypad, are carefully designed and integrated together to increase the efficiency of retailers.
Small, yet effective mobile POS terminal
The XPDA-9 has CF and MMC slot to provide room to accommodate 802.11b wireless LAN connectivity and additional flash memory. Integrated CDMA and GSM/GPRS option will be also available for selected region for those who needs Wireless Wide Area Network(WWAN) connection. With all these features, the XPDA-9 can still run eight hour for store operation. Volume and weights are kept to minimum for convenience. Additionally, the XPDA-9’s design is ergonomic and simple yet achieved elegance to improve the store look.
Not only retailers but also mobile POS software vendors can benefit from the XPDA-9. Many have been releasing mobile POS applications but they relied PDAs that are not designed for retail environment.
